As a grief counselor and proud pet parent, I understand how difficult it is to lose a beloved animal companion. A pet gives so much love and joy that we experience intense grief when the physical bond that was so meaningful to us ends. Our normal patterns with our pet have abruptly ended and we need to learn to cope with our loss. The separation anxiety that often accompanies the death of a beloved pet can lengthen the bereavement journey. Many well intentioned people tell us we are fine and that we just need time to heal which can suppress the normal healthy grieving process.
Grief is a natural response when we loose a beloved companion animal for any reason. Bereavement for a pet may be much more intense than others think. The pain is real and should never be discounted by anyone. By expressing our feelings we can relieve the pain faster and make the healing process easier.
I provide individual, family and small group grief counseling to help people cope with the death of a beloved pet.
Being with other grieving pet lovers in a professionally facilitated grief support group helps you realize you are not alone in your grief for your beloved pet. My grief support groups are small in size to allow everyone time to share. I pre-screen all attendees so that every group member can achieve meaningful participation. Offering a separate group for canine, Dog Gone, and feline, Cat Loss, bereavement creates a cohesive group of 4-6 adults. Receive support from other pet lovers as you learn, share and reflect about your journey of bereavement after the loss of a beloved pet. Join us for 4 weekly one-hour evening sessions with an extra 15 minutes of time to talk informally with each other, just $75 for the four week healing process or $20 per week.
Call for a free screening to determine if I can help you individually, in a group, or with family. I look forward to any questions you may have. Kristina Callender, MSW, LICSW Phone (206) 551- 7372.
